I think my feedback would be very useful to these old people in the think tank party.

Let us break down the situation:

Firstly, our birth rate is freaking low, in almost 70 years time without any new settlers, our population would be like? Roughly 1 million? Less people means less consumption, which will lead to more businesses and stores (think departmental stores and all your favourite labels) to shut down. And capitalism will aggravate the situation by shutting more and more daily essential stuffs like supermarkets, automotive industry will collapse, and eventually no jobs. Two word - Death City.

Woman has a role to play which is to give birth since whoever creates human blessed Man without womb. But equality in sex has taken a toll, PLUS our super competitive Singapore is not conducive for family creation, it is a matter of time we are dying off. We as Singaporeans.

Let us skip the topic of topping up with immigrants, new talent craps.

This bloody old man as usual, always thinks whatever he thinks is right for the best reasons. Government is the leader of the nation. If a solution doesn't work, think long term right?

Civil servants should take the lead and be guinea pigs. Top management should limit promotion for those capable employees who are single or married without kids when they could. It will be a scenario like presidential election, an image should be portrayed. Seen a 50 year old president who is single? A real leader should be able to juggle between work and family (with kids) successfully. Many handful of the leaders at my workplace are single and not quite young...

And slowly, this un-written rule should be applied to the private sector. Not quite fair to real talents, but we humans should really get married and replace our 2 selves. That is fair... Think of it if our parents don't procreate, there will be no you no me.

We should also learn from the Scandinavian countries. Shorter hours for mother with kids (I'm sure our Great Singapore Government can tackle this by subsidising and/or convincing and/or legislating this), reward the parents. Rewarding parents in terms of lower taxes, higher housing (HDB) rebate, lower COE, rebate on child care, legislating that parents have more weeks of annual leave?

All the above will go against the government's theory of being efficient. After so many years, you mean we could only survive on being efficient? That means something must be wrong with your leadership!! We can stay very efficient but we can't solely depend on being efficient. You mean other nations can't catch up on our efficiency? Their brains are smaller than us? Or efficiency can be improved to 200%? 300%?

Let me recall...

I was promoted to chairman when I was in primary 5 or 6, but then I was demoted due to severe misbehaviour.

The next promotion was very much later, in my 2 years of national service. I was promoted from section sergeant to platoon sergeant and got quite a stunning testimonial thanks to my OC.

I was quite gutted that my previous job passed me over for promotion even though I have put in a really good effort. That was the time I woke up my fucking idea and realised playing games, establishing connections etc are the only way up.

And now, I think I fully deserved the promotion at my current job! I remember telling my gf during Thursday's lunch time that I feel I should be promoted because I feel I did better among the colleagues that are being ranked together.

The next day I got promoted during the promotion exercise! Fucking exhilarated!

As usual, the ever hard to please William laments on his upcoming exams and how useless his current job is no matter how many times he is going to get promoted. Increment is like approximately 100 bucks? Still doing paper work, reporting to supervisors just because they are graduates.

Cheers! Life is sucky and beautiful at the same time.

I was surfing Wikipedia on The Rape of Nanking on Thursday night... Summarising, Japan murdered over 300,000 Chinese in that city alone. Rape at few hundreds even thousands every night as Japanese commander ordered rape looting of the city after the long hard battle.

That was the game I played in my orientation course in January.

There were 6 groups comprising of senior officers (graduates) and junior officers (non graduates). All groups comprises of senior and junior officers except one which all were senior officers.

As seen from the screen, the name of the game is 'Win As Much As You Can'.

Well if every team chooses Y, all will get 10 points. If 5 teams chose Y and 1 chose X, 5 teams will
get -10 while the team who chose X will get +50.

In short, if just any one team chose X, some or all teams will will negative returns. The only one option to have all teams earning is to choose Y together. This is the classical Game Theory in economics - Classical Prisoner's Dilemma.

As expected in the few 3 rounds, you get some teams choosing Xs and Ys. And after about 5 rounds, each team will get to have a representative going out of the room to discuss the tactic so that everyone could benefit. The only solution? Every team must choose Y without any X. So as the game proceeded, we get more Y and less X. Then came the last round where the points got x10 (x10 stakes). My turn to go out for my team... As I walked out, colleagues were jeering another representative - "Indian can't be trusted". We discussed and agreed to choose Y...
I have my doubts too but then I'm quite convinced since this is the last round, our team has nothing to lose.

Result? All teams chose Y except the team of all senior officers chose X. Bloody bastards and bitches....

The higher educated you are, the more capable you can think and the more scheming you will be.

It is true, I think I'm like that too... Everyone has to be like that if you want to climb and succeed.

On the contrary, not all Indians can't be trusted (although there are some degree of truth in it, just like every race has its own weakness). Character still plays a part. If you are in a situation where you have to save someone of your own race or another, what will you do?

If you take a look at the universities during the day time, you will see BGRs, guys trying to act cool and look suave while girls trying to show their skin through hot shorts (irregardless of the hairs, cellulite, dis-proportionately short legs which further enhanced their short height.

Well I'm not perfect either but I do try my best to shun my weaknesses and dressed accordingly.

Back to the main topic; if you take a look at the girls nowadays, do you really think that they will want to get married, settle down and give 2 or more babies? I DON'T THINK SO!

The mindset has already been brainwashed, and further brainwashing in progress when they are in universities. What do they want to do after graduation?

Hook up with rich guys and enjoy lives, but not as mothers.

Find a job and strive on their own, earn their keep and be career orientated.

Just find a job, hang out with friends and colleagues because they have watched too much drama and movies, thinking that all the good guys are taken up or gays, and none of the rest are compatible so they rather be single than settling down for any useless guy.

If only our society worked in such a way that being pregnant at that age range is perfectly normal. We should have pregnant students in schools, pregnant fresh graduates at workplaces, etc!!!

Girls are fertile, guys love young and tender flesh plus the fact that guy's penis is diamond rock hard at 16-22 (or 25)... We can multiply so convincingly without the need of foreigners. Not saying they are not good, but the numbers are too much for Singapore to be uniquely Singapore.

Social problems of having kids at early (not young) age are of no problem if our government mandates certain education for the students, and create a bill to encourage such status like making those who have kids at young age a proud thing to do - with pride! Whereas they should despise and indirectly shame those who refuse to conform... Alright, maybe just marginalise them...

They should also penalise those who can and have the ability to have more than 2 kids but refuse to.

If nothing is done to educate the young generation to settle down and fuck earlier, we will walk towards the path of shrinking Singaporeans population and inundated with foreigners. Maybe 8 to 1 ratio.

Remunerations and rewards for male Singaporeans are not suffice for their double roles as NSman and as civilian.

We should a lot more benefits and cash handouts from government - the ladies dun get it.

Reservist isn't as tough physically as full time national service time but the changing of mentality and role from civilian to NSman and back to civilian is tough. Dreadful for me and troublesome for most if not all. Very troublesome. Who will do the dirty job if the guys dun do it? Of cos we can't expect people who suffers from PMS to do it, yes we will do it - HAPPILY with justifiable returns!!!!!

21 years.... That is how long I have not been there.

Just after 居士林，the area is dramatically refurbished I'm not surprised...

Took a trip back to my old town and feel so nostalgic.... My mind wanna blank out and stay that way for half a day (but as usual, daily routine forced me to overpower my mind... again).

Kim Yam Road. That is the place where I have my first piece of memory.

The multistory building (we call it mini condo nowadays?) was torn down and new tall condonium stands there currently. Opposite the small road, Michellin Tyre factory is replaced with another apartment as well. But to my surprise, NAN CHIAU HIGH SCHOOL is still standing there and I recognise most of the features!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its just locked down and vacated... A fucking holly place with WWII aura...

I swear I will head there again soon and take pictures... I'm so emotional that I want to cry!

This week was a horrendous week till today.

I completed my 5 full days of work and school without any absence (Its incredible really....).

I am torn between revision and sleep and i choose the former. Double shot coffee with sugar and milk is my daily staple. This fucking degree isn't any degree and it really demands time. No time no pass - Guaranteed with infinite warranty.

Fuck my $$$$-less. I will quit my job without blinking my eyes, without emotion, without any lingering of sadness or regret because I want to study.

Attended Friday's night class, woke up freaking early for the IPPT at Maju Camp in a freaking typhoon rain thrashing Saturday morning. Yes it was raining so heavily if you have no idea that it rained. Laboured through that and went to school, endured the revision and class. 630am to 630pm with body aches and mind dead, I dropped dead in bed only to be waken up by my brother! FUCK MY LIFE I SAID!

Everything turned beautiful when Sunday (today) arrived!!!

STEVE COOGAN, a British comedian, once told a joke about David Beckham, a footballer who is unlikely to win a Nobel prize for physics: “They say, ‘Oh, David Beckham—he’s not very clever.’ Yeah. They don’t say, ‘Stephen Hawking—shit at football.’” Successful corporations are like Mr Beckham. Both excel at one thing: in Mr Beckham’s case, kicking a ball; in the corporations’ case, making profits. They may also be reasonably adept at other things, such as modelling sunglasses or forming task forces to solve environmental problems. But their chief contribution to society comes from their area of specialisation.

Ann Bernstein, the head of a South African think-tank called the Centre for Development and Enterprise, thinks that advocates of corporate social responsibility (CSR) tend to miss this point. In her new book, “The Case for Business in Developing Economies”, she stresses the ways companies benefit society simply by going about their normal business. In a free and competitive market, firms profit by selling goods or services to willing customers. To stay in business, they must offer lower prices or higher quality than their competitors. Those that fail disappear. Those that succeed spread prosperity. Shareholders receive dividends. Employees earn wages. Suppliers win contracts. Ordinary people gain access to luxuries that would have made Cecil Rhodes gasp, such as television, air-conditioning and antibiotics.

These are not new arguments, but Ms Bernstein makes them fresh by writing from an African perspective. Citizens of rich countries often fret about the occasional harm that corporations do, yet take for granted the prosperity they create. People in developing countries do not have that luxury.

In South Africa, where more than a third of the workforce is jobless, the problem is not that corporations are unethical but that there are not enough of them. One reason is that South Africa’s leaders blithely heap social responsibilities on corporate shoulders. Strict environmental laws cause long delays in building homes. This is nice for endangered butterflies, but tough for South Africans who live in shacks. Such laws also slow the construction of power plants, contributing to the rolling blackouts that crippled South Africa in 2008. South African labour laws make it hard to fire workers, which deters companies from hiring them in the first place. And a programme of “Black Economic Empowerment”, which pressures firms to transfer shares to blacks, has made a few well-connected people rich while discouraging investment. Ms Bernstein ducks this last topic, which is highly sensitive in her home country.

Sometimes the pressure on business to solve social problems comes, not from governments, but from non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Ms Bernstein cites the example of a pipeline that Exxon built in Chad. The giant oil firm spent six years trying to figure out the best way to comply with the “Equator principles”, an ambitious set of goals for avoiding harm to nature and indigenous people. Exxon strained every sinew to preserve gorillas’ habitat and compensate displaced villagers. Yet NGOs still mounted a furious campaign condemning it. “Many reasonable companies must surely have concluded…that investment in poor countries is not worth the effort,” sighs Ms Bernstein.

Anti-corporate activists sometimes claim that big companies are mightier than governments. This is absurd. Governments can pass laws, raise taxes and declare war. Companies have virtually no powers of coercion. If people do not voluntarily buy their products, they go bankrupt. Business is thus extremely sensitive to public opinion. This is often a good thing. Ms Bernstein cites the example of white-owned shops in South Africa under apartheid. When black shoppers started boycotting them, “it was remarkable how rapidly most white shop owners were prepared to ditch racist practices.” Yet companies can also be bullied into doing the wrong thing. When multinationals bow to pressure from campaigners against “sweatshops” and sever links with suppliers in poor countries, the workers who previously stitched shoes for export may end up scavenging from rubbish heaps.

Accountable to all means accountable to none

Advocates of CSR argue that firms should pursue the “triple bottom line”: not only profits, but also environmental protection and social justice. This notion, if taken seriously, is “incomprehensible”, says Ms Bernstein. Profits are easy to measure. The many and often conflicting demands of a local community are not. A business that is accountable to all is in effect accountable to no one, says Ms Bernstein.

She does not take the absolutist view that companies should strive only to maximise profits while obeying the rules. In poor countries, the rules are often unclear. Multinationals will face choices where what is locally acceptable would be criminal back home. Obviously, they should err on the side of rectitude, but it is far from obvious where to draw the line. In the most benighted areas they will sometimes build roads and schools to keep the locals friendly. They will brag about such acts, but they are simply a cost of doing business, not an instance of corporate altruism.

Ms Bernstein glosses over the innovative work a few companies have done in integrating CSR into their strategy, and she is better at identifying problems than offering solutions. She urges businesses to defend capitalism as energetically as they promote their own products. She thinks companies should provide incentives for market-oriented journalism, films and even novels. Good luck with that. Businesses strenuously lobby for particular favours from government, and chambers of commerce campaign for lighter regulation. But the companies that are so brilliant at selling the fruits of capitalism—from iPads to medicine—are seldom much good at popularising the system that yields them.

Chatted up to 3 different person in 2 days.

I was kinda forced to find a partner in my tutorial class so the lone gal sitting behind was the perfect choice.... The usual stuff... School, course, working in blah blah blah...

Next person is the gal that my campus mate is crazy over. Since April till June, he couldn't summon his balls up and approach her. So we warned him, one of us is going to chat with her the next time we saw her and yes I did.

Last is the guy who was with us in the course. He failed the unit but didn't want to change course and he year 3 me year 2. Quite stuck up or he didn't like me to mention about "failing" word.

I feel quite some (a lot) Singaporeans dun really take the initiative to meet new people, and put on a defensive wall always...

The above cycle goes on and on, while the smart and rich or rather, smart people who are rich will inculcate the right values and they will become the leaders (boss, CEO, managers, supervisors, etc) of our children. By that time they realised how unfair this world is, its rather too late. The exact same cycle that we (the average Joe and plain Jane) are going through, the vicious hard path. And once we get that little bit of achievement, we kinda slow down and settle. Somewhere someone in the generations will have to sacrifice to let the future generation enjoy the fruits, in the logical and fair way.

Lets do our part for the environment, for our Earth, for our future people irregardless of other selfish people. Billionaires giving their fortunes away is a very good example!

I was gunning away with accomplice, shooting grenades, firing off machine guns like throwing away shells of peanuts after eating, watching and loving every moment of explosions as my ordinance fell on the buildings.

Fishing fishing, a rod well spent. Haven't been using the rod for almost half a year and it worked well on that day. Reel is fine, I forgot how to tie the simple knots, experienced the most (so far) turbulent waves, doubted whether I suffer from sea sickness, convinced I'm really old and can't really endure overnight activities, smoked a few sticks of cigarettes and discovered that I can't enjoy smoking anymore, and last of all, I can take hardship really well cos I didn't rest when I reached home and went out till night time!

Overall its a wonderful and eye opening experience. One of the fishing mates broke his hundred plus Shimano fishing rod cos tat was a huge catch. Its the first time I saw such a big live catch!

I want my rod to break too!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine you bought a new car, brand new which comes with warranty. The terms state that if there are any defects within 7 days, you can do a 1-1 exchange.

And unfortunately you really encounter some fucked problem, went back and requested to do an exchange. They said no, because they need time to do investigation. And unless they are certain its hardware or production failure, they won't allow exchange for minor fault. They will just change parts, patch up here and there.

So you spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and get a faulty item, waste your time to service centre, got such a nonsense reply when you want an exchange which is your entitlement, and you are told to go back 3-5 days later to collect the patched up lousy fuck. Time and money, they will not reimburse you. Complain??? Go ahead, fill up the feedback form and pray the management will catch that paper in the dustbin cos the boss just happen to drop his mistress photos into the bin or when he is trying to retrieve his wallet dropped accidentally into the bin.

FUCK all these SOP nonsense. Nowadays we spend money and we have to pray to god, burn hell notes, make offerings so as not to get a faulty unit.

Woke up dissatisfied with the whole package. Why the hell must I suffer so much and still get that lousy fucked timing? The first 21km was like a breeze walk in the park. The next 21km is the Lance Armstrong endurance for me. I have never endure such pain for such a prolong period of time... Thank god its all muscles with no joints involved (surprisingly my knees don't hurt even that little bit!!!!!!)...

Inadequate training is the reason! I will be back. But maybe not next year.

Last year, we said no more marathon at Marina Square car park. But we gone back on our words and did it.

This year we said the same thing at Raffles City car park. And yes, I'm very very confident there won't be a marathon next year or the one after next. Too taxing on our aging bodies and we have got no time to train sufficiently to achieve what we want.

The aim this year was to run for timing, and yes we did. We slashed 1.5 hours off the previous year's timing, but we suffered terribly.

Psychologically scarred and physically wrecked, its a total different experience from last year. Running alone is cool, you set your own pace but its damn lonely. Like fighting a war on your own. Burning burn burn burn!

I shall have my long break from running from now onwards!

I started off late and ran quite slower than usual, testing out my fucking pathetic knees... Hey it healed completely! Supposed to do 4 rounds but did 3 rounds... I began my cooling exercise (which is rare) at 935pm, expecting her call anytime. I quickly went up and bring her stuff down. Waited waited waited...

Till 950pm? I smsed her and she told me they (yes she and her bf) went to buy ice cream (WTF?!?!) and will be late (1st fuck action).

Alright I will wait since Vivocity is quite near... 10 minutes will do.

1015pm and my phone rang (I'm so cooled down that I started to sing and did my 4th round of stretching?) with that bloody bitch x telling me they are stuck at the car park. (Yeah right!! 2nd fuck nonsense)

I was extremely exhausted from weak body condition, lack of sleep and long hectic traveling. Then a simple ride back to office that would normally takes 30 minutes took me 1 hour 30 minutes. Traffic at 6pm back to city on PIE was so incredible. I couldn't recall any jam that is longer than this one.

As usual I cursed, I swear, I got upset especially I have a movie to catch and set to meet my friend at 530pm? Long forgotten feeling came back and haunt me. I was guilty, worried, ashamed and hate myself for not being able to foresee such a lousy situation - letting someone waiting for 1 and a half hours!

Luckily the dinner turned out to be fun, real fun. Another long lost feeling. The food ain't good, but the atmosphere was nice. Nothing (to me) beats the fun and enjoyable time together with the people you feel close to. That counts.

And that overwhelmed my exhaustion and end my lousy day with a happy note. The walk back resembles scene from movie ( The Devil Wears Prada and Healing Hearts by Tony Leung and Michelle Reis). Cold misty night, quiet surroundings with few people walking around and fun chat during the walk...

I should be dropped dead on bed now but I can't sleep... I want to accomplish more things within these period of time. Help!

Hanging around with happy people will likely make you happy, same otherwise. I try to maintain the positive outlook and not to exhibit the negative ones. I hold them back, sometimes they overwhelmed me, sometimes the inundation was so strong that it affects the outings. Most time, I manage them well enough, or I thought so...

Why are we rushing in the first place? Set the goals too high and too unrealistic? Rushing to complete the list of things you want to do and rest in peace? Afraid to be left behind if one doesn't rush?

Its weird, I feel happy after cleaning my table top. Weeks of stains completely got rid off, leaving behind a pure white surface.

Quite a day, participated in my 1st ippt since 2004. The nerve wrecking feeling made me suffer from heart palpitation till the supposedly 1 hour affair ended at 10am.

9 minutes 52 seconds, just that mere 8 seconds off (about 50 metres?) to get my $400 instead of $200. I didn't train early enough apparently...

This morning's weather doesn't help either. My body kept cooling down and i have to constantly fidget and made big movements to stay slightly warm. In the end, I heard a loud pop when I stretched my hamstring just before 2.4km run. I tore my hamstring... An injury month of October!

I got my phone repaired and collected it at 845pm on Thursday 22 Oct 2009.

Walking out of the door, the phone displayed the same problem again despite having the software reinstalled. I got this feeling that I can't get it settle that night itself and felt so dejected. But your staff particularly by the name of Faizal displayed great professionalism. Even though its already 9pm and the lights shutting off at sections of the store, he served me with a genuine sincerity and great attitude. I couldn't sense any vibes of exasperation and irritation from him. The whole process took more than 40 minutes before he and the team of staff identified where the problem was and solved it once and for all.

I would like to thank Nokia and the team on shift that night. Great service provided.

My cellphone went berserk on me just before work ended yesterday. I wanted to go so so so eagerly to have a early night!

So I sped off after work to Wheelock place, queued up and negotiated with the guy that I needed my phone so damn urgent that I will drop on the floor and cry if he don't expedite my repair.

Collection time at 2045hrs. I decided to rush to Lido and catch a movie. After calculating the limited amount of time I have, I decided to go for this movie - Spread (R21) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1186370/

But the show ended at around 2100hrs and I don't want to leave before it ends. I don't want to risk having waited so long and find the door slammed shut at my face and not having a phone till next day either. So no movie and I went to Borders and picked up this interesting book - Super Freakonomics http://freakonomicsbook.com/freakonomics/about-the-authors/

The book offers interesting facts and a different approach to normal lives and activities. Statistics really show that woman loses out to man in work field no matter where, what, when how.... And many more! Interesting?

Well books are meant to be interesting, at least to some people otherwise what is the purpose of publishing a super fucking boring book with absolutely no one reads it?

If I have the time (and money of course), I would buy so many books back that I think I can open a mini library within few years.

I sat down, read and read and read... Having no watch and no phone, I kept stealing glances over to my left and right guy's watches. Almost every 5 minutes cos I really have no idea/judgement how long I have been sitting there. I bet the 2 guys beside my left and right must be thinking whether this asshole is a fucking gay or what?!?!?

Retrieved my phone, tested it and walked out after signing the blah blah blah... And within 5 steps out of the store, my phone hanged again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attended this whole day event at Concorde Hotel. Founder of Thai Express, New York New York, etc was invited to give us a talk on changes.

33 year old and multi millionaire, (Ivan Lee) he told us he was from a family with divorced parents. Got public canning for organising gambling activities in school while serving as prefect, flunk his A levels and went to Arts and Social Science (the last choice of students) at NUS. He sees that as a opportunity to straighten out his behaviour and study well. Everyone started off at the same level whether they are from RJ, VJ or whatever (hes from AJ and got C C E for A levels). He did so well every year that he was on dean's list annually. Got selected to UCLA Berkeley and he learnt a lot. Totally different culture there, he wanted to stay long. Everyone asked questions and bombarded the lecturer so much that lessons were often delayed (in Singapore, students just whacked and whacked and whacked copying down notes and go home revise). 3 hours exam in Singapore means you got to divide the 20 questions or so into multiple periods, rushing through once they heard "You may begin now"...

At UCLA, 3 hours exam for 1 question. Reason? Educators at the top 10 US university explained they want a innovative, creative and thoroughly thought through answer, which in turn set the students thinking...

That is also one of the reasons why overseas educated people get hired for high pay too. They think differently after exposing to different learning culture.

He also said (in front of government officials) Singapore systems cut off innovations. From school time (same uniforms same every shit, rigid rules which makes no sense), to National service (do so many stupid things like agreeing to someone calling you idiot, stupid, fucker, keeping the bunk items like clones 1 cm in or 1 cm out and you get punished, etc) to working world in Singapore. Don't bring your personal problems to work!!! Familiar?

Who can work diligently with husbands/wives abusing them, divorce issues, family issues, $$$ and debt issues, relatives passing away, etc...

Yes, and we are supposed to endure all that shit, act as in nothing happened once we stepped into office. ????????????????

Change... Singapore will probably take 2 more generations to have a significant change that can be felt by its citizens.
